This fabulous large Morepork Ruru Native Owl Puppet features the actual recorded sound of our native owl, and can stand on its own.  

He looks awesome with his outstretched wings, which you can maneuver with your hand inside the body.

Use the ruru puppet to teach your children or the kids at school about this amazing nocturnal native bird.The ruru is a small, dark brown native owl with a beige and brown mottled front and large owl eyes.  It is nocturnal, eating a variety of insects and small animals such as rats, mice and smaller birds.  They are mostly found in forested areas. from sea level to the New Zealand high country.

Ruru have a variety of calls, but they derive their common ('Morepork') name from their icon call that sounds like 'more pork'.
